Family Outreach
Where do you go from here? After all the lies, the broken trust, the broken relationships, what do I do?
Let's start by praying, seeking God and getting educated about these issues. God's word is true and sure and he is able. Isaiah 55:11 tells us "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
Talk with your Pastor, Elder or Deacon about your situation for guidance, and don't feel as though you have to do it by yourself. Your church family will pray with and for you and just know that "Prayer changes things", and a prayer goes a long way. Do not tell everyone your business, vent or broadcast it on social media. You need prayer and you need to pray to God. Do not go to others who can't even pray for you or get a pray through for themselves. Go to the one who created you. If you don’t have a church home, find a good faith-based pastor and ask for prayer for your situation. You'll be surprised that even at times when someone may not be in a position to help you financially, they may know of ways for you to get the help you need.
Next, contact your local Department of Social Services or some of the Local and National Outreach Organizations as they are in a position to provide a variety of services and resources to help you. Identify how they can help and what you need to do to help yourself or your loved ones. You need to be willing to think outside the box, provide relevant information to the situation you need help with and be willing to take criticism and face the harsh reality that much work needs to be done to get yourself or your loved one back on track. Then you need to understand and face the fact that things are not just going to turn around overnight, it's going to take a while and it's going to take some work.
Once you start on the journey, there are times when you are going to have to show your loved ones TOUGH LOVE to help break the habit, even when you feel like you want to go easy on them. You are not helping them if you give them breaks or go easy when you need to be tough, it only opens the door for them to slip right back into the habit and further from your grasp. Don’t be an Enabler, be a Helper.
